GE Refrigerator leaking water from bottom of freezer door.?
December 30th, 2010I have a GE brand refrigerator/ freezer (side-by-side) that is approximately 6 years old. I now have a problem with water leaking through the bottom of the freezer door. There is an ice dispenser and water dispenser in the door of the freezer. I turned off the water two weeks ago but water still runs from the bottom of the door. This water doesn’t leak constantly but only once or twice a day. I will find approximately a half cup of water on the floor. I know this is where the leak is coming from because I observed the water dripping. It’s not running from anywhere else. Does anyone know what might be causing this leak and what repairs I need to make?
Thanks!
does the LG 22.6-Cubic-Foot Stainless Steel French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerator have a door alarm?
November 25th, 2010I have a older McClary refrigerator that is not cooling but the freezer is fine.?
November 24th, 2010I discovered that there was a huge amount of ice located on the back of the fridge at the bottom wrapped around the tubing. The freezer seems to be working fine but the fridge is not keeping the food cold. What could be the cause and how do you recommend I fix it?
Should I buy an LG or Maytag refrigerator?
November 22nd, 2010I’m debating between 2 different models of fridges: the LG four door fridge (Model #LMX25964ST) or the Maytag Ice2 0 (Model MFI2569VEM). They are both bottom freezer french door refrigerators with ice and water, and both the same price. The LG is a better deal, but I’ve heard they are not very reliable. This is a big deal, because I likely won’t have a warranty on either (we’re buying in the US and transporting to Canada). Anyone have either of these that they could recommend?
Why doesn't my Frigidaire refrigerator cool anymore?
November 13th, 2010I have a fairly new but cheap Frigidaire refrigerator with a freezer on top. The freezer works fine but the bottom refrigerator part doesn’t cool anymore. The light works though. How can I fix this or find out why this isnt working?
Why are there gnats in my freezer?
November 11th, 2010At least I think they’re gnats. For some reason I have just recently found these little bugs in my freezer. I have been having a problem with my refrigerator not cooling properly. Could this be the cause? They are not in the bottom of my frig, just the freezer.
Why does my cat want into the freezer?
November 10th, 2010My cat (who is 7 years old) will sit in front of the refrigerator until we open the freezer side for her. She’ll lick the bottom of it until we shut the door and force her out. The only thing that will take her away from it is if we put an ice cube in her water dish. She’s been doing this for a couple of weeks now; I just want to know why?

My freezer is dripping but the temp is 5 F. What should I do? Is it something dangerous?
November 6th, 2010I bought a used GE stainless refrigerator with bottom drawer freezer. From the start I had issues with the refrigerator temperature being too cold. About 8 months ago, I had an appliance repair company come and replace all of the thermistors in the machine. That seemed to do the trick.
I have noticed that if I put too much food on the top shelf of the refrigerator, the fridge seems to compensate and cool down too much (recommended temp is 37 F, it might drop to 32 instead). If I move the food around, it fixes itself. When this happens though, the freezer doesn’t usually change in temperature.
This morning I woke up and the fridge temp was 26 F and the freezer at 5 F. I could hear that it was running, but as soon as I moved food around (there was indeed too much on the top shelf), it stopped running. A few minutes later I heard dripping. I opened the freezer and there is now a pool of something on the bottom of the freezer, and it continues to drip from the top of the freezer. The food all still seems to be frozen but I am going to run it to a friend’s house in a bit.
The liquid is clear. I’m hoping it’s water but that seems odd since the temp is still 5 F. Should I be concerned that it is something more dangerous? I’m worried I’m going to need a new fridge, but I live in a remote area and it can take 3 weeks to have a fridge delivered here!
Has energy efficiency improved for refrigerators in the last 10-12 years?
November 4th, 2010I bought my fridge over 10 years ago. It’s now leaking and I tried to fix it based on info online. It didn’t work. So I’m trying to figure out whether I should see about getting it repaired or buying a new one.
If I do buy another one, I want the freezer on the bottom.
What's the best way to clean the refrigerator and freezer?
October 30th, 2010I was thinking about cleaning the them both with clorox and water. Maybe a wet towel and spray some clorox on the wet towel also. Can I do that or will that affect my food or whatever is in the fridge or freezer? I may do it once all the food is bout gone… idk yet! I’m gonna clean it from top to bottom. What other good disinfect products are there to use? Or should I use some clorox wipes? Thanks n all serious answers please.
How To Clean A Diet Coke Explosion In My Freezer?
October 30th, 2010Here’s my dilemma: My friend is arriving from England for her first trip to the US on Monday, July 26, 2010 and today is Tuesday, July 20, 2010! I completely forgot I placed my 2-liter Diet Coke in the freezer so it would get cold faster. I’m sure it works great as long as you remember; Unfortunately, I forgot! And before you ask, I absolutely HATE putting ice in my diet coke because it dilutes it so much.
Anyway, when I got back and opened the freezer door, I almost fainted! It looks like the food fight scene from "Animal House" only instead of food it actually looks like they used coffee grinds! No kidding! On top of that, instead of the fight being filmed on a movie set, it looks like it happened in Luray Caverns in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley where my very own personal stalactites and stalagmites had formed!
I’m running on mega short time y’all! There’s so much I need to get done from house cleaning, errands, the car’s axle being replaced, grocery shopping, not to mention washing both my car AND my 135-lb. American Rottweiler, Jesse!. Needless to say there’s simply no time whatsoever for me to have a nervous breakdown!
As additional information, I’m talking about the freezer being above my refrigerator not a chest freezer. Because I don’t know if this is standard in refrigerator freezers, the bottom of it has a "ridged effect." Picture, if you would, a "grill" pan, the bottom of my freezer has ridges going across the length of it.
Here’s my question:
What is the fastest and most efficient way to clean out the freezer and rid it of all this frozen diet coke? Also, would the same method be used to clean out the refrigerator as well?
I can’t thank you enough for helping me with this. The time keeps ticking away and the list just seems to be getting longer. Hopefully your answer will eliminate a big part of my list. Again, thank you so very much for your time and expertise.
Stainless steel refrigerator with grey sides instead of black?
October 27th, 2010I am looking for a bottom freezer refrigerator (single door not french doors) approx. 20 – 22 cu.ft. After doing online research went to store only to find out that the one I preferred had black sides. Description did not tell me that side was going to be black. Is there an easy way to only find refrigerators with grey sides? By manufacturer codes?
Guess I shold have said stainless steel sides except that most sides are not stainless steel but just look like it
What should I do about a refrigerator that works sporadically?
October 23rd, 2010I have a 7 year old Amana (freezer on the bottom) refrigerator that started making noise as it clicked on and off… until it stopped working altogether. A repair man replaced a "3 in 1 relay start/run". It worked for 5 days, stopped, rested, then worked for another 5 days. This has been the pattern.
The original repairman said we should get a new refrigerator. Someone else suggested that the cause might be a bad thermostat. Any ideas?
What could cause frost buildup to collect on the back wall inside my freezer?
October 23rd, 2010I have defrosted the freezer and then it cycles off and on like it is supposed to. When I do defrost the freezer it lasts about two weeks and the frost builds up again and I have to defrost again.. The refrigerator is on the bottom and the freezer is on top and they are both supposed to be self defrosting. I usually defrost the freezer by emptying it and holding the door open. while I use a blow dryer to defrost. I know this is probably crazy but what else can I do?
Sheet of ice on bottom of frost-free freezer (side by side fridge combo)?
October 22nd, 2010For months now, there has been a sheet (almost a block) of ice formed on the bottom of our freezer. It doesn’t melt then come back; it’s just always there. A month ago I scraped out lots of ice from this sheet, but a few days later it was back as big as before.
The unit is a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer combo, and is supposed to be "frost-free". We don’t use the ice or water dispenser. We removed the ice maker & there is no water hooked up to the unit. The specific make is a GE Profile 24.
Please tell me what might be wrong, and the specific details of how to troubleshoot and fix it. Thanks so much!
refrigerator and freezer are not getting cold?
October 22nd, 2010GE bottom freezer has been in storage 1 year. I bought in 2007. I enter 37 degrees for refrigerator and it immediately resets itself to current temperature same with freezer
Water collecting in bottom of refrigerator?
October 20th, 2010There has been water collecting below the crisper trays in the bottom of our Crosley model CT15A2A freezer-top refrigerator. There is no drain hole, and the refrigerator works fine otherwise. The unit is several years old, and it might not be worth getting a professional repair. We’d appreciate any information about the cause, especially the seriousness of the problem, and what might be done to fix it. We checked on-line for a user’s manual with no luck, except to learn that the brand now belongs to Maytag. Thanks.
How do ice dispensers on french door refrigerators work?
October 19th, 2010How does the refrigerator door dispense ice when the freezer is in the bottom of the refrigerator?
NOT how a fridge works. How the ice TRAVELS from bottom to top.
Tom, I am actually talking about the french door (three door refrigerators) They have the freezer with the ice maker in the bottom – the ice is then dispensed in the refrigerator door above the ice maker. My question is, how does the ice move upwards or is there a secondary freezing unit specially for ice in the upper part of the fridge?
Kenmore refrigerator not running but freezer is?
October 17th, 2010Refrig/bottom freezer not cooling, fan running, lights running, controls working fine, every 5 minutes a humming, then a clicking….cleaned condensor fans and cleaned condensor coils by vacuuming
My problem is that the refrigerator portion is not cooling, but the freezer portion is. The really strange thing is that the vertical mullion on the left hand door is warm/hot to the touch.
why is my new refrigerator warm?
October 11th, 2010i bought a new whirlpool refrigerator three months ago and it’s worked well for three months. it’s a top/bottom freezer/refrigerator with the freezer on top and the refrigerator on the bottom.
the top freezer still works fine, but the bottom refrigerator is no longer getting cold airflow. a little bit of ice has formed in the refrigerator portion, but everything else (the groceries) is wet with condensation.
what’s going on? the unit is only three months old.
